Opened in 1864 and crowned by sculptures representing the cities it links, the Gare du Nord services northern France, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, and the UK. Moving 222 million passengers a year it offers connetions to several urban transportation lines including the RER, Metro, and buses. As a result, it can be confusing to navigate, so we took the morning to make sure we could find our way from the Metro to the platform for our train to Amsterdam. It was a good thing we did because it took us a while and it could have been a close thing the next morning when we left.
