The River The village of Steveston, once a bustling fishing centre, retains much of its history despite a dramatic shift to tourism with the decline of the salmon fishery. The remnants of the fishing fleet still moor around the village, the last remaining cannery is now a museum as is the last remaining shipyard, but some of the atmosphere of a fishing village remains. A rare winter snowfall provides a more romantic explaination for the lack of activity than the reality of a declining fishery.
