We strolled streets lined with over 100 shops, galleries, and restaurants in the tourist and retirement destination of Tubac; explored the  historic, ill-fated Spanish Mission of Tumacacori;  bypassed the border town of Nogales on our way to an uninspiring camp at Lake Patagonia State Park; and on to storied  Tombstone the next morning.
Following in the footsteps of Green Valley with modern upscale adobe style homes The small town of Tubac felt more like a southwest themed shopping mall than a community. Trailer parks remain common The remains of Mission San José de Tumacácori abandoned after repeated Apache attacks are preserved as a National Historic park. The mission cemetary East from Patagonia Lake on Hwy 82 along Sonoita Creek Javalinas (Peccaries) along Hwy 82 Patagonia, once a supply centre for mines and ranches, is now a tourism and retirement destination.
